Drama

Students in both the junior and the senior years take a two-hour drama class for one quarter. In the eleventh grade, students are introduced to the fundamentals of acting and performance, including movement, voice and interpretation of the text and character. They perform a dramatic work at the end of the course. The senior drama course reviews these techniques and implements them in a full-scale production. Students are involved in all areas of the production: text and character interpretation, blocking, sets, music, costumes and props.

Recent Productions

Check out photos from our most recent drama productions. In December, our juniors performed the dark comedy, Arsenic and Old Lace. This past spring, the class of 2009 performed the Greek tragedy, The Oresteia.

Rhapsodes

The Rhapsodes is an extracurricular acting troupe that meets one hour per week and is dedicated to telling classic stories on stage in either readers' theater or full-stage format. Recent productions include: an evening of storytelling with scenes from The Hobbit, Odyssey, The War of the Worlds, Alice in Wonderland and Cyrano de Bergerac; a readers theater production of A Christmas Carol and a full-stage production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
