Extracurricular Activities

Ancient Technologies

Ancient Technologies is a hands-on club where students have the opportunity to practice a craft as it was performed long ago. The focus of the club is to learn about ancient technologies such as needlecraft, weaving and spinning. The club meets after school one day a week from November to February, and is open to all students.

Arts Magazine

Creative individuals from all grades help with the creation of a magazine, In Beginning, presenting outstanding written and visual art created by members of the school community.

Athletics

Trinity School sponsors an athletics program for all students at all grade levels. Currently the following sports are offered:
Girls: volleyball, soccer, cross-country, tennis, basketball, fast-pitch softball and track and field.
Boys: soccer, cross-country, basketball, wrestling, baseball, golf, lacrosse and track and field.

Declamation

Students in seventh through ninth grades practice and perform dramatic readings in preparation for four judged competitions. Categories include prose, poetry, speeches and original oratory. Students learn to hone their public speaking skills, gain valuable feedback, and earn ribbons for their efforts. Tournaments take place January through March.

Film Club

Members view classic films and discuss them with a faculty advisor.

High School Math League

The Minnesota State High School Math League Team is for grades nine through twelve. The group meets weekly beginning in late September to work on problems. The team competes at five meets in a league with other area schools. The meets occur monthly from November to February. Students compete in two of four levels and also as a team. The levels correspond to algebra, geometry, trigonometry and algebra II/math analysis. A state tournament is held in March.

Junior Classical League

River Ridge's Junior Classical League introduces students to Greco-Roman culture through interesting translations, exciting lectures, entertaining field trips and hands-on learning experiences. They participate in the Ludi Romani and hope to compete at national JCL events in the near future.

Lego Robotics Team

Members of the club learn how to build and program Lego Mindstorm robots in accordance with a predetermined annual theme. They also participate in a team competition and a judged presentation at the end of the season.

Mathcounts

For students in seventh and eighth grades, Mathcounts provides challenging problems at weekly meetings starting in late October. They compete in a regional competition in February. Mathcounts is a nationally sponsored competition.

Speech Club

Taking their cue from Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program, participants have fun with rhetoric and increase their confidence in public speaking.

Girls' Equestrian Club

Club members learn about horses, attend horse-related events such as horse shows, and participate in trail rides.

Girls' Trinity Nature Club, B.L.A.Z.E

Becoming Loyal and Zealous Explorers
This club encourages girls to participate in hiking and exploring nature around the school as well as in local parks and preserves. Activities include maple syruping, wildflower walks, bird migration watches, summer canoe and hiking adventures. The club furthers the school mission: "be of use to God in the wise care and governance of his creation."

Vocal and Instrumental Music

Trinity School offers a variety of extracurricular music opportunities for students. These include Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, String Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble.

Yearbook

Interested students design the Trinity School at River Ridge yearbook, under the guidance of a faculty advisor.
