Affording a Trinity School at River Ridge Education

We understand that the cost of attending Trinity School is a significant investment in your child’s future. It is an investment well worth making, and we want to help you to meet the cost. As a first step, here are the answers to the questions we are most frequently asked about affording a Trinity School education.

Does Trinity School provide any financial aid?

Yes. Trinity School has a need-based program that is available to new and returning students. Aid is given in the form of tuition reduction grants. These grants do not need to be repaid.

What does “need-based” mean?

The amount of a tuition reduction grant is based on the demonstrated financial need of a family. “Demonstrated financial need” is the difference between the cost of tuition at Trinity School and the amount a family can be expected to pay toward that tuition.

How do you determine how much a family can pay?

To consider individual students for financial aid fairly, we assess each family’s financial situation with the help of the School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS) used by schools throughout the U.S. Every family applying for aid completes a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and sends it to SSS for processing. SSS calculates what the family can pay and sends the information to Trinity School. Trinity School uses the SSS calculation as a guide for assessing the applicant's portion of the total amount of funds available for financial aid.

How can I find out my expected financial aid award NOW?

We understand that learning of your anticipated financial award early in the process can be very helpful. We are pleased to introduce Fast Track 2015-2016. Financial Aid. After submitting some basic information we will estimate the financial aid you can expect and get back to you within two weeks! If you choose to apply to Trinity School, you will be asked to complete the full process as noted above. If no significant changes in your financial situation are noted through this process, the award we estimate now will be the award you will receive next school year.

What happens if I am divorced or separated?

When looking at the needs of families applying for aid, Trinity School considers the financial circumstances of both natural parents. Therefore, in the case of separated or divorced parents, or parents who have never married, both parents are asked to fill out a PFS. If either parent has remarried, the school also considers the financial circumstances of the stepparent, always bearing in mind the obligation of that stepparent to his or her natural children, if any.

We are aware this may be a difficult situation in some families, so please feel free to contact the business office if you have any questions or concerns about this policy.

Will applying for financial aid hurt my child’s chances of being admitted?

No. Admission to Trinity School at River Ridge is need-blind. This means that the admissions process and the grant process are entirely separate.

Who may apply for financial aid?

Anyone may apply. However, aid is given only to students who have already been accepted to Trinity School and have returned their Tuition Contract indicating their intention to attend. If, in the end, a family feels their financial aid package is insufficient to enable their child to attend Trinity School, their deposit will be returned to them.

Is financial aid automatically renewed each year?

All grants are for one year only. This is because a family’s financial circumstances and needs may change (for better or for worse) from year to year and must be examined annually by the financial aid committee. However, the school makes every effort to continue financial support of families requiring aid.

How do I apply for financial aid?

Once a child has been accepted for admittance during the next school year, parents of new students and parents of returning students who wish to apply for the first time should contact the business office to request their consideration for financial aid and to find out the deadline for applying for aid. Parents may also request a Fast Track Financial Aid Application before applying for admission, in order to get an indication of whether they would qualify for aid.

Then, they should fill out the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS), which is the financial aid application that Trinity School uses in its financial aid process, by the deadline set by the school. The PFS application can be found at the School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS) web site.

Finally, parents/guardians must turn in their child’s Tuition Contract along with the required confirmation fee by the date specified on the contract.

Does Trinity School have any athletic or merit scholarships?

No. All grants at Trinity School are based simply upon an assessment of financial need. There are no athletic or merit scholarships.

Does a grant cover anything other than tuition?

Financial aid at Trinity School is a tuition-assistance program only. It does not cover the cost of uniforms, books or other student fees.

How many students receive financial aid at Trinity School at River Ridge?

About one-third of our students received grants during the 2013-2014 school year.
